Besides their base salary, caregivers very often receive seasonal bonuses, special allowances, and in-kind benefits (accommodation, meals, transport).
Typical cash bonuses
- Holiday bonuses (Christmas, New Year, Easter) – supplements of 300–600 euros net for assignments covering holidays.
- Summer bonuses – e.g., 150–250 euros net extra for working 60–90 days in summer.
- Referral bonus – often 100–300 euros for a successful referral.
- Allowances for more difficult assignments (heavier care needs, night shifts) – raise the base rate or are paid as a separate bonus.
Non-cash benefits
- Free accommodation (private room, sometimes private bathroom) and meals in the client’s home.
- Paid travel to and from Germany, often organized door-to-door transport.
- Social security contributions and health insurance when working through a Polish posting agency.
- On-site coordinator support and often a 24-hour helpline for caregivers.
Loyalty programs
- Loyalty bonuses for long tenure or multiple assignments, e.g., an extra 100 euros from the third assignment.
- Bonus stacking: at many agencies, holiday, summer, referral, and quick-start bonuses can be combined, significantly boosting total earnings per assignment.
